Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use this website or get in touch, what I do with it and the choices you have. In short: I only collect what I need to reply to you and work with you, I never sell it, and you can ask me to delete it at any time.

Who I am

MOSTADON is the trading name of Simon Moss, a sole trader based in the UK. I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact me about anything in it at simon@mostadon.com or on 07825 576401.

What I collect

When you use the contact form, I collect your name, email address, company, what you need help with, your timescale and anything you write in your message.

When you email me or contact me another way, I collect your contact details and whatever you choose to share.

When you visit the site, my hosting and security tools automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This is used to keep the site secure and working, for example to block malicious traffic.

I don’t knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and I ask that you don’t include any in your messages.

How I use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and talk about how I can help.
  • To provide my services if we work together, including sending proposals, contracts and invoices.
  • To keep records I’m legally required to keep, such as for tax and accounting.
  • To protect the website from attacks and misuse.
  • To respond to lawful requests from courts, regulators or law enforcement, where I’m required to.
  • If my business changes, for example if I set up a limited company or the business is sold, your information may pass to the new owner so they can continue looking after you on the same terms.

If you contact me from a business, I may occasionally email you about my services where I think they’re relevant to you. Every email includes a simple way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by replying or emailing me. If you’re a sole trader or partnership, I’ll only send you marketing emails if you’ve agreed to them, or if you’ve worked with me or asked about my services before and haven’t opted out.

My lawful basis

Under UK data protection law, I rely on:

  • Legitimate interests to reply to enquiries, keep a record of them, keep this website secure and send relevant business to business marketing emails, which you can opt out of at any time.
  • Contract where I need your information to take steps before we work together, or to deliver work you’ve engaged me for.
  • Legal obligation where I must keep records, for example for HMRC.
  • Consent where the law requires it, such as non essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Where it’s stored and who sees it

Form submissions are sent straight to my email inbox and are not stored on this website. I may keep a record of enquiries in a secure spreadsheet or customer relationship management (CRM) system to keep track of conversations.

I use a small number of trusted providers to run my business, who process information on my behalf and only on my instructions:

  • Hostinger, who host this website.
  • Google, for email, file storage and website backups.
  • Wordfence, a security service that protects this website.

Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where that happens, I rely on the safeguards that UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

I will never sell your personal information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Keeping your information safe

I use reputable, secure providers, security software, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access to protect your information. Only I can access it.

Email isn’t a completely secure way to send information, so please don’t send anything confidential through the contact form or by email.

If there’s ever a security breach that affects your personal information, I’ll tell you as soon as possible, along with what I’m doing about it, and report it to the ICO where required.

Links to other websites and social media

This website links to other websites, such as event organisers and my LinkedIn profile. I’m not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so it’s worth reading their privacy policies. If you interact with me on social media, that platform’s own privacy policy also applies.

How long I keep it

If we don’t end up working together, I keep enquiry details for up to two years in case you get back in touch, then delete them. If we do work together, I keep business records for as long as the law requires, which for tax records is usually six years.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you.
  • Ask me to correct anything that’s wrong.
  • Ask me to delete your information.
  • Object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use it.
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time. If you do, I’ll stop straight away.
  • Ask for your information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent.

I don’t make decisions about you based solely on automated processing or profiling.

To use any of these rights, just email simon@mostadon.com or call 07825 576401. I’ll reply within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
