MOSTADON mammoth illustration for How I Work

How I work

From strategy to measurable growth.

No jargon and no 60 page decks. Senior thinking where it counts, hands on delivery where you need it, and a clear line to pipeline.

The process

No mystery. No hard sell.

Here’s what happens when you get in touch, from first chat to real results. Timings are typical, and a one off project can skip straight to the plan.

  1. 01 Free, 30 minutes

    We talk.

30 minutes. No deck. A relaxed chat about where you are, where you want to get to and whether I’m the right fit.

You getAn honest steer, even if we don’t work together.

  2. 02 Weeks 1 to 2

I tell you what I think.

Including if I think you don’t need me. I look at your goals, buyers, numbers and what marketing is doing today, and find where deals are won and lost.

You getClear findings on what’s working, what isn’t and why.

  3. 03 Weeks 2 to 4

If there’s a fit, I send something sensible.

Scope, timing and cost. No 27 page proposal. Then a focused plan with clear priorities, budget, owners and KPIs, built with your team so it actually gets used.

You getA practical 90 day plan. Not a 60 page deck.

  4. 04 Ongoing

    We get on with it.

The good bit. We launch, measure and improve, and regular reporting shows what’s working so budget moves to it.

You getMonthly reporting and marketing that keeps getting better.

Strategy

Execution

Drag the handle to see how we could work together.

All strategy

Marketing review & strategy

An independent look at what’s working and what isn’t, followed by a clear, commercial plan your team can run with.

  • Marketing review & growth audit
  • Positioning & go to market
  • A prioritised 90 day plan

Strategy led

Fractional CMO

Senior marketing leadership on a part time basis. I set the direction, lead your team and report to the board, while your team delivers.

  • Marketing strategy & planning
  • Team leadership & clear KPIs
  • Board level reporting

Balanced

Fractional CMO, hands on

The best of both. I set the strategy, then roll my sleeves up to get the most important things done properly.

  • Strategy & leadership
  • Campaigns & demand generation
  • CRM and reporting set up to last

Execution led

Demand generation & pipeline

We agree the plan together, then I deliver the programmes that create qualified pipeline for your sales team.

  • Multi channel campaigns
  • Lead nurture & handover to sales
  • Pipeline reporting

All execution

Hands on delivery

An extra pair of senior hands to get things done: events, automation and campaigns delivered properly, first time.

  • Events & exhibitions
  • CRM & marketing automation
  • Campaign delivery

Working together

What it actually looks like.

Simple, predictable and easy to manage, so marketing keeps moving without taking over your diary.

Weekly check in

A short catch up to review progress, unblock things and agree what matters this week.

Monthly report

Clear reporting for leadership on pipeline, spend and what’s coming next.

One point of contact

You deal with me directly. No account managers, no handoffs.

Your tools, your team

I work in your systems, alongside your people and agencies, not around them.

Remote, on site or both

Whatever suits you. Plenty works remotely, and I’m happy to be in the room for workshops and planning days.

What I need from you

A senior sponsor, access to the data and honest conversations about what’s not working.

No rolling stones

This Moss sticks around.

They say a rolling stone gathers no moss. Plenty of consultants drop a strategy deck and roll on to the next client. I stay to see it through, launching, measuring and fixing until the numbers move.

Modern marketing

AI, data and automation. Strategy still leads.

The tools have changed fast. I help you use them well, so your team moves quicker without losing sight of the buyer, the message and the pipeline.

The tools change. The fundamentals don’t.

AI assisted research and content

Faster market, competitor and buyer research, and content workflows that keep your voice and your quality bar.

Analytics and attribution

Reporting the board trusts, showing what marketing sources, influences and returns.

CRM and marketing automation

Getting real value from the stack you already pay for: clean data, smart nurture and a clear handover to sales.

Data driven demand generation

Targeting, intent and testing that put budget behind the campaigns that actually build pipeline.

Pricing

How pricing works.

No surprises and no mammoth invoices out of nowhere. Here’s the usual shape of things. The price depends on what you need, so we’ll talk about that properly.

Projects

Fixed fee

TypicallyOne off, with a clear scope

  • Marketing reviews and audits
  • Strategies and go to market plans
  • One off jobs with clear deliverables

CommitmentRuns for the length of the project.

Advisory

A senior sounding board

Typically2 to 4 days a month

  • Strategy and a 12 month plan
  • A monthly steer for your marketing lead
  • Board and investor support when you need it

CommitmentIdeally a month’s notice either way.

Fractional CMO

Your part time CMO

Typically1 to 2 days a week

  • Leads your team and agencies
  • Owns the plan, the pipeline and the reporting
  • A seat at your leadership table

CommitmentIdeally a month’s notice either way.

Interim

Full time cover

Typically3 to 5 days a week, for a set period

  • Cover for leave or while you hire
  • Keeps the team and campaigns moving
  • A tidy handover to your new hire

CommitmentAgreed at the start, around your hiring plan.

No price list, on purpose. The work is shaped by you and what you need, so the honest answer to “how much?” is “let’s have a chat”. Tell me what’s going on and I’ll come back with a clear, fixed proposal, usually within a couple of days.

Every engagement starts with a free intro call and a written proposal. Want a ballpark first? Just ask, I’ll give you a straight answer.

One promise: it won’t come anywhere near a full time CMO, who’ll often cost £120k to £200k+ a year before benefits. And if it ever does, I’m likely better bang for your buck, and you’ll be getting more mammoth for your money.

FAQ

Good questions to ask.

The things people usually want to know before we start.

How quickly can you start?

Usually within a week or two of saying yes. If it’s urgent, tell me and I’ll do my best to move faster.

How do you price your work?

Projects are a fixed fee, retainers are a set monthly fee for an agreed number of days, and interim work is a day rate. You’ll get a written proposal before anything starts.

Is there a minimum term?

Projects run for as long as the scope needs. Retainers are flexible, ideally with a month’s notice either way.

Do you work with our existing agency?

Yes. I’m happy to brief, manage and get the best out of the agencies and freelancers you already use.

What if it isn’t working?

We’ll know early, because we measure from the start. If something isn’t working we change it, and retainers can be ended with a month’s notice.

Do you work remotely or on site?

Whatever suits you. Plenty can be done remotely, and I’m happy to be on site for workshops, planning days and team sessions.

“I had the pleasure of working alongside Simon for nine years at Spotler UK, and I can say without hesitation that he is one of the most talented marketers I’ve worked with.”

Samuel Ricard

Commercial Director

Spotler

“Simon gave me enough room to work and deliver projects independently, but always had a firm hand in how they were approached, and supported me without me needing to ask. A very level headed and fair manager I’d look forward to working for again.”

Adam Brown

Global Head of Marketing

Huntswood

“What stood out most was Simon’s ability to bring structure, clarity and commercial discipline to marketing. He introduced stronger reporting, measurement and processes, and consistently focused on delivering meaningful pipeline, revenue and brand impact.”

Let’s put it to work.
